Three bladed French screwdriver

This three bladed turnscrew is a faithful reproduction of and object found at Fort Chambly (Chambly, Quebec). Similar tools were also found a Louisbourg and are depicted in Diderot’s Encyclopedie. The blades have different bevels to adapt to various slots. Many 18th century muskets screws had “V” slots. The screwdriver star shape gives a good grip.
