Sealtop Tinned Brass spoon, rounded fig bowl
This style of spoon, described as "seal top spoons" in the present day, originated in the early 17th century, at the time of the Pilgrim Fathers. They were used in France, England, Netherlands and in their respectives colonies. It is noteworthy that some of this style were found in the Elizabeth an Mary, a shipwrecked bark from the unfortunated expedition against Québec City led by Phips (1690). This shows the very long period of use of this spoon model.
This one is reproduced form an original specimen dated from the early 17th century.
