Nathan Starr Saber - War of 1812
Available as of February 20, 2023
This saber, stongly inspired by the British Pattern 1796 ligth cavalry saber, was supplied to United States Light Dragoons by the Nathan Starr factory. A first contract was signed in March 1812. The sabers made after the November 1812 amendment had all iron scabbards. "It is presumed that, by June 1814 when 1,800 had been delivered, the U.S. Light Dragoons were all armed with Starr sabres." (Chartrand:1992 p. 98)
The stirrup guard as well as the back strap and metal scabbard have a black finish.
