Soldier waistbelt 1683-1710
In 1683, Louvois, who was Louis XIV's War minister, ordered that the soldiers must used a waistbelt to carry their sword instead of the formerly used baldric. The model we offer has a decorative stitched edging as well as a vertical frog to carry the plug bayonet. The use of the waistbelt will hallow the use of belly boxes (gargoussiers). Made in cream colored buff, with a brass buckle (sword and bayonet not included).
